Message Queuing WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP

WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP is message-oriented middleware that uses the leading message queuing product for heterogeneous data centers.

This middleware enables your MCP-based applications to exchange messages with applications on 35 platforms that also support the standard IBM WebSphere MQ middleware product. You can use it to exchange messages from your COMS applications, without having to modify your applications.

WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP is ideal for integrating applications that have one or more of these characteristics:

• Runs on several different platforms such as IBM OS/390, Sun Solaris, Microsoft Windows, HP-UX and IBM OS/400
• Requires reliable, secure and recoverable message delivery
• Has the ability to run independently with or without an active network connection
• Requires coordinated message and database recovery
• Has the ability to trigger application component initiation to process messages
• Needs to be able to "trigger" application initiation to process messages

WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP integrates applications across different platforms by exchanging (sending and receiving) data as messages. In addition to the exchange of messages, WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP uses IBM WebSphere MQ Server for Microsoft Windows for queue management, communications protocols, clustering and application programming capabilities. It also integrates with system software such as RPC, the Transaction Server (formerly COMS) and the transaction manager.

Flexibility

WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP gives your application developers flexibility by providing two paths to WebSphere MQ:

• A WebSphere MQ bridge to Unisys Transaction Server allows your unmodified, direct Windows applications to use WebSphere MQ
• The IBM standard WebSphere MQ API (MQI) product

Minimized Use of MCP Resources

WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP minimizes the impact on your MCP workloads by offloading the workload of the queue manager and message queues to Windows.

WebSphere MQ for ClearPath MCP works in tandem with IBM WebSphere MQ for Windows. If you run IBM WebSphere MQ for Windows on the internal Intel processor of your ClearPath MCP server, you can potentially achieve performance benefits. You can also use the IBM WebSphere MQ for Windows on a standalone Intel server.

Automated Management of Enterprise-Wide WebSphere MQ Applications

You can use any systems management tool that supports IBM WebSphere MQ for Windows. This gives you automated management of WebSphere MQ across the enterprise. Examples of suitable systems management tools include BMC PATROL for MQ, Candle Command Center for WebSphere MQ and Tivoli Manager for WebSphere MQ.
