Deployment Services

Database Implementation Service

This service facilitates the planning steps necessary for successfully deploying a complex database solution. Unisys consultants will work with your team to develop an implementation readiness plan. Typically, the plan is focused on system configuration, storage configuration and the physical deployment of your database. The plan specifically addresses performance, availability and recovery requirements. Planning can be expanded to include a new network and/or security design.

Database Upgrade Service

This service uniquely addresses the process of upgrading Windows hosted database servers. Depending on the versions involved, planning can consider copying and improving the existing data structures or potentially upgrading the software instance. The plan reviews both options in appropriate depth.

Based on the plan developed, Unisys consultants implement the identified upgrade tasks. When required, this service addresses the differences between the existing and upgraded database versions and verifies the upgraded database.
 

Optimization Services

Database Availability Assessment and Planning Service

This service reviews your database availability goals in view of your current environment and develops a plan to address any gaps between your goals and your current environment. This service reviews what availability techniques, i.e., clustering, log shipping, replication, are being used and what practices are being followed. Based on the assessment findings, a suggested action plan is created for review with you.

Benchmark/Optimization Service

This service enables you to measure and optimize the performance of your application on an ES7000 Model 7600R and Intel®-based infrastructure. Unisys offers this service in its Performance Centers, which are staffed by teams of database experts. These teams employ leading-edge "load-driver" software packages, such as Mercury Interactive LoadRunner, to simulate your workloads. As a result of the testing, configurations can be developed to accommodate your current and expected application performance requirements.

Proof-of-Concept Service

For this service, Unisys technical experts collaborate with your key personnel to develop a hardware and software prototype to best simulate your specific deployment scenario on an ES7000 Model 7600R server infrastructure.

Database Server Assessment and Tuning Service

Based on a set of your objectives, this service examines whether your current database is capable of meeting requirements. It involves a review of how the database is structured, deployed and operated. It also reviews database workloads and the top queries being executed. Following the assessment reviews, Unisys database experts develop tuning recommendations and establish performance baselines. Tuning recommendations are then implemented and the results are compared against the baseline’s performance metrics.
