WXP Graphical Weather Displays

Our premier weather visualization and analysis software tool, WXP (the Weather Processor), is renowned in the meteorological community. This is the software that runs the Unisys weather website, one of the web’s most visited sites by professional meteorologists and serious weather data users.

Originally developed by Purdue University, Unisys purchased the rights to WXP and has been continually upgrading and enhancing the product. WXP is a suite of routines for analyzing and displaying meteorological data and satellite images. The software handles standard World Meteorological Organization (WMO) formatted data captured in near-real time.

WXP decodes and parses the information and visualizes the data in a variety of formats. The primary audience for the package is meteorologists but it was also developed to give non-meteorologists the ability to view weather data with varying degrees of complexity. The data output from WXP is in a format that can be fed directly or indirectly into business decision-making applications.

WXP requires a weather data source such as Unisys, NWS or NOAAPORT. And runs on a variety of Unix and Windows platforms.
