Unisys Sponsors 2005 Police Sport United Kingdom Golf Championship

Belfast, Northern Ireland, 24th May, 2005, Unisys, the global IT services company, is proud to announce that it is the lead sponsor of the 2005 Police Sport United Kingdom Golf Championship. Over 100 members of the UK Police Service, representing 27 Police Forces, will participate in this year’s four-day tournament. The event takes place at the Belvoir Golf Club in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from 24th May to 27th May, 2005.

Nick Todd, Secretary, Police Sport United Kingdom (PSUK), said, “This is the seventy-first PSUK Golf Championship. We’re pleased to announce Unisys as lead sponsor for the first time. The Championship is extremely competitive and is at the forefront of Police sport. It is also a fantastic networking opportunity for Forces to share best practice.”
 
Unisys has a strong heritage in the UK Police Sector. HOLMES 2, the criminal investigation system developed by Unisys and Police Information Technology Organisation (PITO), is used by all police forces throughout the UK. Unisys recently announced at ACPO 2005 that Grampian Police, MoD Police and Norfolk Constabulary have selected its multimedia management solution (M3) to streamline the indexing and storage of multimedia evidence.

Unisys also provides sports scoring technology for The European Tour, in addition to The Ryder Cup and The US Open. Previously, Unisys has supported other sporting events including the London Marathon and the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
