Unisys Insurance Solutions Receive Industry-Leading IBM Insurance Application Architecture (IAA) Certification

BLUE BELL, Pa., September 19, 2006 -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that the Unisys Product and Policy Management solution has achieved Level 2 Certification for IBM Insurance Application Architecture (IAA) which aligns the leading Unisys insurance components with IAA’s, including its data, process and integration models.

Originally developed in collaboration with more than 40 leading international insurance companies, IAA is a standards-based business and IT architecture framework for a range of business challenges such as core system and process renewal, and statutory and regulatory reporting. Today, IAA has been licensed by more than 150 insurers worldwide, including seven of the world’s top ten insurers. The core benefits of the IAA approach include accelerated business requirements analysis, and reduced project time and implementation risk.

Unisys insurance solutions are designed to drive improved performance in all key administration processes for life, annuity and property and casualty products. Built with IBM Rational toolset, Unisys solutions leverage a complete portfolio of J2EE components designed for service oriented architecture (SOA). SOA technology optimizes the benefits of a standards-based approach advocated and embodied by IBM’s Insurance Application Architecture. Unisys bases its insurance solutions on its 3D-Visible Enterprise (3D-VE) methodology, a unique approach to understanding the cause-and-effect relationships between corporate vision, business operations and the IT systems that support them, helping to reduce the risks associated with implementing change.

“IAA is the gold standard for model-based development in the insurance industry and we’re delighted that our innovative Product and Policy Management solution suite has achieved certification,” said Jerry Albright, managing partner of the Global Insurance Practice at Unisys. “The alignment between Unisys and IBM brings insurance clients advanced design and a model-driven approach to development and deployment. As with Unisys 3D-VE, this alignment also brings closer IT and business architectures, helping our customers feel secure in knowing that their operations are effective and efficient.”

For insurers, the benefits of using IAA-compliant solutions include faster development timelines for enterprise wide software and applications, lower-risk implementations, easier integration with existing systems, reduced risk and lower long-term maintenance costs.

Representatives of IBM and Unisys together completed a full examination of the PPM models, architecture and documentation at the Unisys Uxbridge office in the U.K. in May 2006.
