Unisys Receives Contract Worth up to $49.2 Million from NASA Langley Research CenterAward for modeling and simulation work comes as Unisys celebrates 30 years of service to NASABLUE BELL, Pa., February 6, 2006 – Unisys Corp. (NYSE: UIS) announced today that National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Langley Research Center (LaRC), Hampton, Va., awarded the company a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract with an estimated value of up to $49.2 million for Simulation and Flight Information Technology Services. The contract has a term of one base year and four one-year options, exercisable at the discretion of the government. The estimated value of the base year is $8.5 million. If all options are exercised, the estimated value is $49.2 million. The company has served NASA for 30 years.
Unisys work on this contract supports the NASA “simulation to flight” vision which allows research concepts to be designed, developed, and verified in a ground-based simulation facility and then validated through flight tests on aircraft with common research system elements.
Chief among Unisys tasks is the continued development of the Langley Standard Real-time Simulation in C++ which received the LaRC Software of the Year Award for 2005.
Unisys also will provide software and hardware analysis, design, development, verification, validation, operations, maintenance, modification and systems integration services for the NASA Langley Flight Simulation Facilities and Research Aircraft. Unisys is responsible for total IT systems operation and for quality assurance. Presently, Unisys has 47 employees supporting the contract in Hampton, Va.
