BiographyJennie Room, HR Director for UKMEA, joined Unisys from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group in 1997. A graduate of the Institute of Personnel Development, Jennie held a range of management posts at RBS, dividing her time between Business Operations and HR management.
In her first role at Unisys, she took on responsibility for HR management of the UK Financial Services practice. This enabled her to use her deep knowledge of the FS marketplace to the full, while extending the scope of her activities beyond the world of banking and insurance. The opportunity to expand her role in this way was a key factor in bringing her to Unisys, opening access to a wider range of challenges within a company operating across different markets and business activities.
Jennie has also spent time as European HR manager for Financial Services before moving in 2002 as HR Director to IPSL, the payments BPO unit jointly owned by Unisys and a range of UK banks. Finally, in December 2004, she was asked to become HR Director for the UKMEA region.
Jennie was attracted to Unisys by the company’s positive culture and working environment and has no regrets about that initial decision. She characterises the culture of Unisys as being exceptionally open, with a focus on active participation and commitment to execution. She believes that Unisys people are unusually committed to delivering excellent value to their clients and, despite the rapid pace of change in recent years, is confident that the company’s distinctive culture is as strong and deeply-rooted as ever. |
